Tip’d vs. Server44: An Honest Comparison
Published
Quick answer: Both apps are free to download on iPhone, need no account and keep your tip numbers off their makers' servers. Tip’d also gives you two or more jobs, positions and stats on your whole history for free, backs up to your own iCloud and imports from other apps; Server44 keeps extra jobs and its 90-day and 365-day stats for its paid Pro plan and describes no cloud backup. Server44 is the better pick on Android or iPad, in a language Tip’d doesn't offer, or if you want tip-outs worked out by percentage or a take-home estimate after taxes. We make Tip’d, so weigh that; every fact here comes from each app's own pages and Server44's public request board.
Tip’d is the free iPhone tip tracker we make: every job, position and stat is free, and your shifts can back up to your own iCloud.
Full disclosure: we make Tip’d. Server44 is a tip tracker from EHM Tech, on the App Store since January 2026, and it's a lot like ours: free to download, no account, and your tip numbers stay off its maker's servers. We'll make our case, but every fact below comes from each app's own App Store page, privacy label, release notes and privacy policy, plus Server44's Google Play page, website, blog and public request board, and Tip’d's app, all checked on October 31, 2026, with ratings rechecked on November 1, so you can check them yourself. We didn't buy Server44 Pro or test the app for this guide, so its features are as Server44 describes them. And where Server44 is better, we say so.
Tip’d vs. Server44 at a glance
Where Tip’d comes out ahead
Two jobs, for free
If you work more than one job, start here. Tip’d lets you add as many jobs as you need for free, each with its own color, positions and hourly pay. Server44 lists “Unlimited jobs” under Pro, and in an October 2026 reply to an App Store review its developer wrote, “The free version tracks one job, and adding more jobs is part of PRO.” Its home page lists multiple jobs under the free app, but that reply is the more specific of the two.
Positions are the other half of it. In Tip’d, a server who also hosts or bartends at the same restaurant picks a position on each shift, with its own hourly pay, and sees hourly pay by position. Server44's pages talk about jobs, not positions inside a job. You can set the hourly wage on each shift instead.
Stats on your whole history are free
Server44's insights cover 7, 30, 90 or 365 days, and the 90-day and 365-day views are in Pro. Its pages don't put a time limit on its calendar, its pay periods or its exports. In Tip’d the week, month, year and trend views go back as far as your shifts do, all free, and you can filter trends by job, position, weekday and shift type.
A backup in your own iCloud
Neither app needs an account, and both keep your tip numbers off their makers' servers. The difference is what happens if you lose your phone. Tip’d saves to your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, to the private part of your own iCloud account, so a new phone on the same Apple Account gets your shifts back.
Server44 keeps your records on your device only. Its own guide to keeping tip records says so plainly: “There is no cloud copy to fall back on if the phone goes in a sink.” You rely on your phone's backups and the exports you save, and its comparison page lists the missing cloud backup and sync as a drawback. In October a user asked for sync across devices on Server44's public request board.
You can bring your history with you
Tip’d imports in the app: Excel, CSV and text files, photos, screenshots, PDFs and pasted notes, read on your phone, with one summary to check before anything is saved. It recognizes exports from ServerLife and Just The Tips by name.
Neither Server44's store pages nor its website mention importing, and the user on its request board reports that it exports but doesn't import.
More kinds of goals, and a place for your pay stubs
Tip’d has earning targets for the week, month and year that fill as you log shifts, savings goals you fill by hand, and paychecks with a stub photo it can read on your phone, all free. Server44 has a goal for each pay period, and it estimates what you'll take home, which Tip’d doesn't. Its pages don't mention adding a stub to the app.
A shorter privacy label
Tip’d's App Store privacy label says “Data Not Collected.” It has no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising identifiers.
Server44's privacy policy says your tip data, earnings and job details stay on your device and that the company has no access to them. Its label isn't empty, though. Under Data Not Linked to You it lists a device ID for third-party advertising and analytics, plus usage, crash and purchase data, and its policy names Firebase for analytics and crash reports and RevenueCat for subscriptions. It says that data doesn't include your tip amounts or earnings.
On ads, Server44's policy says the app “does not display any advertisements,” uses no third-party advertising tools and shares no data with advertisers. It also says the app stopped reading the advertising ID in version 1.0.7, and that it uses an Apple tool to see whether one of its own Apple Ads campaigns led you to install it. Two App Store reviewers say there are no ads. Its Pro list still includes an “Ad-free experience,” and its label still has that advertising line. We can't tell you why, so we've gone with what its policy says.
Siri, widgets and iPhone Duo
Tip’d works with Siri (“Log a shift in Tip’d”), has Lock Screen rings and Home Screen widgets in its optional Widget Pack, has layouts made for iPhone Duo, and lists VoiceOver, Voice Control and larger text on its App Store page. Server44's App Store page doesn't list any accessibility features yet.
What “free” covers
The only optional purchase in Tip’d is the Widget Pack, a monthly subscription for its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. There's no Pro plan: logging, stats, goals, paychecks, import and export are all free.
Server44 sells Pro as a weekly or yearly subscription with a free trial. Its home page says “the core app is free forever” and calls Pro optional. One older post on its blog, updated in May 2026, goes further and says “Free, no ads, no subscription” without mentioning Pro. To be fair to it, the free version covers a lot. If you work one job and the 7-day and 30-day stats are enough, you may never need Pro.
Where Server44 comes out ahead
- Android and iPad. Server44 runs on iPhone, iPad and Android. Tip’d is iPhone only for now. Android and iPad versions are in the works; until they're out, Server44 is the better choice on those devices.
- A take-home estimate after taxes. Set your state and filing status and Server44 estimates your net pay. Its developer says the estimate covers federal and state taxes plus Social Security and Medicare. Tip’d has no tax estimate: it shows your totals, a year summary for tax time and how your tips compare with the federal no-tax-on-tips limit. Treat any estimate as a guide. One App Store reviewer says Server44's matched a paycheck to the cent, while a user on its request board reports one well above what was withheld.
- Pay periods. Server44 tracks daily, weekly, biweekly, semimonthly and monthly pay periods, per job. Tip’d doesn't have pay periods; its paychecks are records of what you were paid.
- Tip-outs worked out for you. Server44 has rules for each person you tip out, such as a bartender or busser, as a percentage of cash, card or sales. In Tip’d you enter the amount you tipped out.
- More languages. Its App Store page lists 39. Tip’d is in ten, including Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Arabic.
- More ways to export. Server44 exports CSV, PDF and plain text for the dates you choose, and its blog says those are on the free tier. Tip’d exports a spreadsheet or a year-summary PDF, one year at a time.
- Older iPhones. Server44 needs iOS 15 or later. Tip’d needs iOS 17 or later.
- Catching up fast. Server44's blog says its Quick Entry view logs a whole pay period in under a minute, and you can change the hourly wage on any one shift. Tip’d logs one shift at a time, at its position's pay, and uses import for a batch.
- More themes, and a widget. Server44 lists 18 themes to Tip’d's five, and has a Home Screen widget with your week's tips. That widget isn't on its Pro list. Tip’d's widgets are in its paid Widget Pack.
- A head start. Server44 came out in January 2026 and has a 5.0 from 50 ratings on the App Store and a 4.7 from 29 reviews on Google Play. Tip’d came out in October 2026, with a 4.8 from 10 ratings so far.

Server44's App Store page lists four things under Pro: unlimited jobs, the 90-day and 365-day views, an ad-free experience and future updates. Its home page calls the core app free forever, and its comparison with ServerLife counts separate cash and card tips, tip-outs and hourly wages among the basics that aren't behind Pro, so we've marked those three “Free.” Where its pages don't say either way, we've written “Yes,” not “Free.”
Which one should you use?
- You work two jobs, or more than one position, and don't want to pay: Tip’d.
- You want stats on your whole history, and a backup if you lose your phone: Tip’d.
- You're moving your shifts over from another app or a spreadsheet: Tip’d.
- You're on Android or an iPad, or want the app in a language Tip’d doesn't have: Server44.
- You want pay periods, tip-outs worked out by percentage or a take-home estimate after taxes: Server44.
Already have shifts in Server44? You don't have to choose blind. Export them as a CSV file and open it in Tip’d's import. We haven't tested Tip’d with a Server44 file, so we can't promise a clean read. Tip’d reads what it can, asks about anything it can't place, and shows you what it found before saving. Anything it can't use stays in Server44, which stays as it was, so you can try both side by side.
Questions people ask
Is Server44 free?
It's free to download, and its home page says the core app is free forever. Its developer says the free version tracks one job, and its blog says exports are on the free tier. Pro adds unlimited jobs and the 90-day and 365-day views, and it's sold as a weekly or yearly subscription. Its Pro list also says “Ad-free experience,” but its privacy policy says the app shows no ads.
Can I track two jobs in Server44 for free?
No. Its developer wrote in October 2026 that the free version tracks one job and that more jobs are part of Pro. Tip’d lets you add as many jobs and positions as you need for free.
Does Server44 back up my tips?
Not to a cloud of its own. It keeps your records on your device, and its own guide says there's no cloud copy to fall back on, so keep your phone's backups and save your exports somewhere else. Tip’d backs up to your own iCloud if you use it.
Can I move my Server44 history to Tip’d?
You can try. Export a CSV file from Server44 and open it in Tip’d's import. We haven't tested a Server44 file, so check what Tip’d found before you save. Tip’d can keep any dates, hours, tips, tip-outs, wages, sales, jobs and notes it finds in the file; goals, pay periods and settings don't come across.
Does Tip’d estimate my taxes?
No. Tip’d shows your totals, a year summary to take to tax time and how your tips compare with the federal no-tax-on-tips limit. If you want a take-home estimate, Server44 has one.
Is Tip’d on Android?
Not yet, but Android and iPad versions are in the works. Server44 is on Android and iPad today.
Which is better for servers, Tip’d or Server44?
On iPhone we'd pick Tip’d, and we make it: two jobs, positions, stats on your whole history and an iCloud backup are all free. On Android or iPad, or if you want a take-home estimate after taxes, Server44 is the better fit.
