Common questions

How do I log a shift?

Tap Log a shift above the tab bar. Pick the job and position, enter your hours and tips, and save. Cash and card tips are both optional, so a $0-tip shift is fine. Between midnight and 5 AM, a new shift is dated the night before, since that's the shift you just finished. Later than that, check the date before you save.

Will my data carry over to a new phone?

Yes. Tip'd saves to your own iCloud, so sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on and your jobs, shifts, paychecks, goals and the day your week starts come back on their own. Reminders and the appearance setting are per phone, so set those again. Give it a few minutes on a new phone. You can check the status in Settings → Your data inside Tip'd.

How is "hourly, with tips" worked out?

Everything you made (tips kept after tip-outs, plus hours times your hourly pay) divided by the hours you worked. Weekly and monthly averages only use finished weeks and months, so a half-finished week doesn't drag them down.

Can I change my week to match my pay week?

Yes: Settings → Week starts on. Your other devices follow it too.

I put money in the wrong goal or the wrong amount.

Open the goal and tap the entry in its history to change the amount or the week, or to delete it. Tip'd won't let a change leave the jar taking out money that was never put in, and it tells you what to fix first.

How do I get my numbers out for taxes?

Go to Stats and open your year. You can export a spreadsheet that opens in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets, or a year summary PDF. The year page also tracks your tips against the federal tip deduction. Tip'd isn't tax advice, so check with your tax preparer about what applies to you.

The reminder didn't show up.

Make sure notifications are allowed for Tip'd in the iPhone's Settings → Notifications, and that the reminder is on for that night in Tip'd's Settings. Nights you've already logged a shift are skipped on purpose. You can send yourself a test reminder from Tip'd's Settings.

How do I delete my data?

Delete any shift, paycheck, goal or entry right in the app. To remove everything, see Deleting your data in the privacy policy.

When you email about a problem, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the Tip'd version shown at the bottom of Tip'd's Settings.
